Overview

To provide services designed to maximize the intellectual, social, and emotional development and functioning of individuals receiving services under the supervision of an Assistant Director of Psychology and Ph.D. licensed psychologist. Practices and promotes the agency’s mission statement in every interaction. Provide ongoing support to people in becoming active participants in every aspect of their lives and to ensure that a high quality of life is maintained.

Responsibilities

Practices and promotes Citizens mission statement in ever interaction.

 Through family and community engagement, Citizens supports people to live the life they choose.

 

  1. Provides individual, collateral, and/or group interventions.

 

  1. Provides off-site and/or satellite direct clinical interventions.

 

  1. Perform diagnostic evaluations, which may include assessment of intellectual functioning, adaptive behavior, emotional functioning and mental status, including Functional Behavior Assessments.

 

  1. Design and implement behavior programs to increase social skills. Provide follow-up for documentation, support, and implementation of behavior programs.

 

  1. Provide staff training in behavior modification principles.

 

  1. Complete Psychiatric Appointment Review forms prior to all psychiatry

       appointments.

 

  1. Monitor participants progress according to treatment plan and make modifications

            when indicated.

 

  1. Participates in team meetings, case conferences.

 

  1. Maintain clinical documentation and complete periodic reviews.

 

  1. Participate in regular supervisory contact with Assistant Director of Psychology or Senior Behavioral Intervention Specialist.

           

  1. Provides crisis intervention.

 

  1. Performs all other related duties as requested by supervisor.

Ensures that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff. Observance of an unsafe act or a potentially hazardous work environment must be immediately reported to supervisor and/or safety committee.

Provide agency wide training at new hire trainings in Positive Behavior Supports and other areas determined by the Psychology and Training departments. Receives training for agency SCIP-R instructor and maintains certification on annual basis (teach one 3 day full SCIP-R course and 2 recertification trainings per year).

Personal Outcome Measures training required prior to conducting evaluations and assessments.

  1. Reports and documents any events/activities that may hinder the health, safety and well-being of the person that resides there (i.e., allegations of abuse, injuries, broken equipment, etc.).
  2. Reports to the Justice Center as a mandated reporter if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse of neglect. Additionally, must follow all agency incident policy and procedures.
  3. Adheres to Federal and New York State regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook and agency and program training requirements.
  4. Arrives to work by the start of scheduled shift adheres to agency policy and procedures in regard to call off and overtime to ensure quality support is provided to people each day.
  5. Successfully completes and maintains annual training and any other training that is necessary for your position.
  6. Performs all other duties as requested by supervisor

This position requires regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with people receiving services and, therefore, is subject to successful completion of fingerprinting/criminal background check.

Qualifications

Must have Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology. Some experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
