Overview

Practices and promotes the agency’s mission statement and guiding principles in every interaction. Provides ongoing support to the people that participate in a respite program. Provides support in socialization, self-care, safety, socialization, and overall well-being.
As a non-qualified driver, you are prohibited to drive an agency vehicle or transport the people we support, regardless of circumstance.

Responsibilities

1.Provides ongoing guidance and support to individuals with intellectual and other disabilities to ensure active participation in activities. Provides only the level of support necessary for each individual to ensure independence and engagement in activities.
2.Provides support to individual to become engaged in activities as well as maintain and build upon natural supports and relationships.
3.Ensures individual practices safety for all activities.
4.Reports incidents to Program Coordinator of Respite and/or Citizens management and/or the NYS Justice Center.
5.Follows all treatment plans and utilizes all corresponding adaptive and safety equipment needed for each individual, to promote independence and ensure their health, safety and well-being
6.Implements and documents all treatment plans and other agency related materials. CITIZENS, INC. HUMAN RESOURCES
7. Promotes and reinforces all agency philosophies including the guiding principles/POM and
CQL at primary site, all other agency, community volunteer jobs, and all other hub sites.
8. Serves as member of team by participating in meetings to discuss, offer, and gather information and ideas.
9. Mentors new Direct Support Staff by demonstrating supportive routines and by reviewing trainings, to ensure new employees are sufficiently groomed to complete responsibilities.
10. Monitors and attends all mandatory trainings and personally ensures that their attendance is
scheduled per deadlines. Accompanying certifications (CPR; SCIP) are to be maintained and scheduled as per required time-frames.
11. Performs all related tasks requested by supervisor.
12. Completes any other tasks that are requested by Program Coordinator of Respite, Respite Supervisor, Associate Director and Director of Family Support Services.
13. Virtual programming for the people supported may be a necessary as part of the job responsibilities

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have the ability to communicate and understand written and oral directives/information
